This Chapter examines the effect of familiarity on work group outcomes. Familiarity refers to the specific knowledge a group member holds about the unique configuration of work in a particular group. Outcomes refer to indicators of group effectiveness such as performance or satisfaction. A basic argument m this chapter IS that low levels of familiarity reduce group effectiveness
